BIRTHRIGHTS
Obsidian Needle Earring OO- allows the wearer to add or remove up to X points of the Willpower of target, with X being equal to Manipulation + Empathy successes; the wearer spends 1 Willpower or Legend to do so, and cannot heal more than the wearers Legend.

Turquoise Bracelet OO- grants the Health, Animal Purviews

Feather Brush OOOO- Feather Brush allows the user to imbue a painting with supernatural power. This could be a specific emotional response, subliminal message, a Knack, or even influence a Purview, depending on the power of the painting. The Knack must be possessed by the painter, and to access a Purview the painting must incorporate an element that already does so. Roll Charisma + Art (Painting) to determine the power of the painting created. The number of dice used determines the number of hours x5 it takes to finish a work of art; less dice may be elected as desired. Every 5 hours after 20 (every success after 4) a level of lethal damage is taken to complete the work. The total number of successes also determines the refractory period: the number of months before anyone can use the brush to complete another supernatural painting. Creating a painting expends Willpower and Legend equal to half the number of successes; so an 8 success painting expends 4 Willpower and 4 Legend. The total number of successes counts as the 'bonus points' when determining the effects of the painting, so at least 3 successes are necessary to imbue a knack and at least 5 to imbue a Purview. Although the painter can describe in broad strokes what he wants the painting to accomplish, the more powerful the painting the more powerfully it affects Fate; therefore, the storyteller determines the precise effect of truly powerful paintings. No paintings’ dot value may exceed the Legend of the painter.

Character Bio

Born November 20th, 1990 (Day 10 Reed) in the Oaxaca, Mexico.
Father "unknown", mother Maria Teresa Tonatzin-Alarcon

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
   Ethnicity Mexicano
   Build 5'6" tall, 135 lbs
Skin Marcus has cinnamon-sugar colored skin and short black hair, which he usually puts up into a fohawk. Marcus is very handsome, although on the short side, with a leonine musculature and easy grace. His amber eyes burn with creative energy.
Dress Marcus most often goes casual in dark jeans and a plain white v-neck t-shirts and hemp sandals or sneakers. His clothing seems strangely clean for a painter. He always accessorizes, usually with a bunch of bangles on one wrist, a flashy belt, toe rings, or a pendant of some kind. Marcus is never seen without at least a pair of obsidian spike earrings and a turquoise-studded bracer.
Quirks doodling, sleeping in odd places/ insomnia, wearing as few clothes as possible whenever possible.
Enjoys Eating, reading, kayaking, painting, marathons, community involvement, painting; empanadas, Oaxacan moles, and any type of dark chocolate; music from Juanes, , and Imagine Dragons; the Simpsons, Fisica o Quimica, and Godzilla; Robot de Madera, Anthony Goicolea, Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Carlo Saraceni, Michelangelo, M. C. Escher, Frida Khalo, and Diego Rivera; and the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan.
Dislikes Beer, fast food, eating with mouth open, stodginess or "coldness"; elitism, drug trafficking, social inequality, watching others suffer

BACKGROUND Marcus and his mother moved from Oaxaca to Acapulco in June of 1998. Maria Teresa soon met and married the policeman Gregorio Florez Ibarra, and in 2000 they had the twins, Teresa Maria and Tochtli Florez Alarcon. In January of 2004, during the prosecution of a drug cartel in which Marcus was a key witness, Gregorio was gunned down. The Florez-Alarcon family moved to Albuquerque, NM in the United States shortly after, where Marcus finished up high school. His social activism, working to place clinics in impoverished neighborhoods of Albuquerque, won him and his cohorts national attention, and the incredible murals he created to advertise the clinics arrested it. After graduating in 2007 with Honors in Spanish and Art, Marcus spent some time travelling the United States, installing exhibitions and guest-speaking in various locales on local-level social activism. He took a full ride scholarship to the California Institute of the Arts and studied their for 3 years, but in 2011, tragedy struck his family. His mother and the twins were 'deported' back to Mexico under highly suspicious circumstances. Following them almost cost Marcus his life and the lives of his family. A Visitation by Tezcatlipoca turned the odds in Marcus's favor, and with some help both governmental and supernatural, he was able to extract the twins. His mother remains missing.

Family Maria Teresa Tonatzin Florez Alarcon (mother; whereabouts unknown), Gregorio Florez Ibarra (stepfather; deceased), Teresa Maria Florez Alarcon (sister; California), Tochtli Florez Alarcon (brother; California); William Eldridge (private retainer; California), Margarita Ugarte Alarcon (aunt, mother's sister; California); Extended Florez family (Acapulco)
Education CALARTS graduate, Apache high school graduate
Occupation Artist-Social Activist. Marcus is a very successful artist, with most of his framed work selling for between $700-$3,000. His murals have attracted bids between $30-$75 dollars per square foot; Marcus routinely donates 90% of the money made from murals to community health clinics and involves the community they benefit from conception to execution. He has also given frequent seminars on how the program works and jump started murals in over a dozen other sites throughout the United States. Besides the high school project, Marcus has personally created 8 more of these community mural projects; 3 in one crazy summer and fall. The most meaningful to Marcus, personally, is the Aztec creation story painted on the clinic of his old barrio in Acapulco, where his mother used to work. !Saludarte! as the program is called, has been Marcus's major project up to this time.

BOONS (Health)

PURVIEW CHANNEL (HEALTH)
  • Tonal acts as a Relic that can channel the Purview Health. Tonal may use any Boons that Marcus knows in that Purview, regardless of Tonal's own Legend.
NAGUAL
  • Naguals are fatefully linked to their Scion in a permanent version of the spell Heart of Mine.
  • When fighting together, both reap the effects of Perfect Partner for free.
  • The Aztecs believed a nagual originated in a person's liver. As such, a Scion may dismiss his Nagual, whereupon it becomes intangible and stored in the Scion's body.
  • The Scion and nagual become more in tune with each other, able to communicate with each other telepathically for 1 Legend point (lasts the scene). Additionally, the Scion may spend 1L to see through the nagual's eyes (ala the Cheval Boon Rada's Eyes).
  • When the Scion uses Ride Animal, she may physically transport her body inside the nagual's (ala the Cheval Boon Met Tet).
  • A nagual adds a bonus to their Scion's use of the Animal Purview equal to their dot value. At the Hero level, the nagual's presence adds their dot value as dice to the roll. At Demigod level, they add autosuccesses equal to their dot value. At God level, they add Epic autosuccesses equal to their dot value (2 dots = 2 successes, 3 dots = 4 successes, 4 dots = 7 successes, 5 dots = 11 successes).
  • Starting at Legend 5, the nagual reaps identical Legend from the Scion's use of Itztli
